Maharashtra ban on beef an encroachment of dietary democracy and lib...

New Delhi: (4th March, 2015). Welfare Party of India strongly reacted to the ban on the sale of beef in Maharashtra and termed it an encroachment and breach of the dietary liberty and democracy of citizens of the country.

Party national general secretary PC Hamza in a statement said that slaughter of cow is already prohibited in the state since 1976. "Bringing bullocks also in its purview will detrimentally affect cheap and nutritious food of millions of people of all castes and faiths. It is reported that the ban will make around 20 lakh people jobless. It will adversely affect the rural animal husbandry income sector. It has nothing to do with belief and nothing to do to prevent cruelty to animals. Why then leave buffaloes, goat, chicken etc. It is to impose the hegemony of culture and traditions of a microscopic section of the upper caste Hindu community. Rainbow culture and plural ethos of the democratic and secular nation is at risk and under threat. All of plural loving, non communal people of the country have to come forward to thwart such fascist steps "the statement continued.
