Welfare Party of India officially set into motion its preparations for the 2014 Lok Sabha election by holding first session of the newly convened Parliamentary Board at Party headquarters at Delhi on 13th April. The meeting presided over by Chairman and national president Mujtaba Farooq was attended by the members- Dr. Lalitha Naik, Dr. Zafrul Islam Khan, Abdul Wahab Khilji, Dr. S.Q.R. Ilyas, P.C. Hamza, Subramani and Sheema Mohsin-and special invitees-Advt. S.A. Gilani Uttar Pradesh, Nazimudheen Rajastan, Zainul Abdeen, Tamil Nadu, Abdul Hameed Vaniyambalam from Kerala and Abdul Rauf from Maharashtra.

The PB members and the special invitees evaluated the prevailing national and provincial political situation. Members opined that people have lost faith with both the Congress-led UPA and the NDA under the BJP. Both are trying for bi-polar politics in the country and are engaged in splitting or weakening all alternative options. 
On the basis of the details submitted by the state units and the information presented by the participants, it was decided to contest election in Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajastan, Delhi, West Bengal and Bihar. The number of contesting seats in each state will be finalized later by the Parliamentary Board in consultation with the state committees.

A Manifesto Committee was formed with Dr. Tasleem Rehmani as Convenor and Ambujakshan, Trivandrum, Subramani, Chennai, Sheema Mohsin, Bangalore and Khalida Parveen, Hyderabad.
